i hate kickstands for this very reason, among others. The crack is almost assuredly from a kickstand. Take it to a COMPETENT aluminum welder with a TIG welder and SKILL. I thought I could at least get a bit of life out the bike, I usually inspect the bike very thoroughly when buying secondhand but this crack escaped me. Man that sucks, The bead option will probably cost me more than I paid for the bike knowing my local lbs, plus I doubt they even have the tools to do it. I suspect many will say this bike is toast and is best seen as a donor of parts for the next bike you get. Sometimes this low cost path actually holds up well for a long time. Some will just find a local guy to run a bead with little or no attention to the prep or post work. So now you're looking at complete stay replacements, have fun there Then there's the question of the stays' other 3 clamping contact locations. Stripping paint, cleaning up/prepping crack, proper welding a bead, or three, over the crack, after welding time or temp treatments and repainting. For cost reasons repairing this frame in the industry way will likely be more then the bike is worth.
